Northern Civil Earthworks Pty Ltd was awarded the contract to build the new parking area between the existing Railway Lane carpark and the newly constructed road.

The project will also include lighting, the refurbishment of the existing Railway Lane carpark with lighting, and upgrading Vernon Street (south) footpath and kerb and channel to meet current design standards.

The project does not include the demolition of the Vernon Street public toilet block.

The cost of the new carpark was included in the 2025-26 budget but the job required an additional $485,000 which was reallocated from an underspend on other projects delivered this financial year.
