New cross country records set
ST Stephens’ recent cross country event was a competitive one this year, with two records being broken on the day.

Over 60 competitive runners took part in the school’s annual 4km cross country event, with Isabella Weiss (16 yrs girls) and Harrison Roos (17 yrs boys) both setting new school records in their respective age groups.
The cross country is an important event for the school, which encourages sport participation and house spirit. Usually open to the entire school, this year’s event was to limited to competitive runners only, due to wet weather and the condition of the track.
Glory was all Augustine’s this year, who managed to edge out last year’s winners, Deacon, to claim the trophy for 2026. While Muluridji claimed third spot and McAuley rounded out the event in fourth.
In addition to setting a new record, Harrison was also the fastest runner in the College this year.
Parents, carers and family members attended the event to cheer on the students, and there was also a strong supportive spirit among the students, who encouraged each other throughout the 4km race.
A group of eligible students will now be selected to attend the Tablelands District School Sport Trials, to be held in Yungaburra in May.
