New era for chamber
A BRAND new leadership team for the Atherton Tablelands Chamber of Commerce say they are ready to bring “fresh energy and ideas” to the region’s business community.

Long-time local business operator Ghis Gallo has stepped into the role of president, leading a new management committee, with Andrea Chamberlain as treasurer and management committee members Bligh Williams, Kay McDonald, and Janelle Moses.
The secretary role will be filled externally in the near future.
Ghis says the chamber is entering this next chapter with an open mind.
“We don’t have a fixed idea of what the new chamber should look like, that’s for the community to decide,” she said.
“What we have is a strong foundation, thanks to the outgoing committee who put in the hard yards on governance. Now it’s time to build on that, together.”
The new committee sees the chamber as a platform for connection, a place to give the community a stronger voice and to bring together the many organisations already working passionately across the Tablelands.
Ghis said the support from local leaders, including Cr Con Spanos and Tablelands Regional Council chief executive officer Nikola Stepanov, has been encouraging as the chamber prepared to step into a new era.
“TRC looks forward to working with the new chamber to help reinvigorate the commercial heart of our region with great opportunities for businesses in Atherton and surrounds,” Dr Stepanov said.
Ghis said the management committee was eager to start conversations about the issues that mattered most, whether it was homelessness, traffic flow, or a sense of community disconnect.
“To do that, the chamber will be hosting good old-fashioned town meetings, inviting everyone to have a say in shaping the future,” she said.
“This isn’t just about Atherton businesses, we represent the broader region and every industry within it.
“If you see a post on social media, or receive an email from us, we’d love you to pause, read, and share your thoughts.
“You don’t have to be a member to join the conversation, right now, it’s about listening and connecting.
“The message is clear – the chamber belongs to the community, and the community’s voice will shape its future.”
