New era for medical imaging
MORE than 70 people gathered at the new Rural Medical Imaging practice in Atherton last Friday to mark a new era in services, with the unveiling of the first MRI machine installed in a rural area in Queensland.

The practice, more commonly known as RMI, has been operating in Atherton for the past 10 years and outgrew its old offices in Mabel Street.
With the move to the purpose-built, bigger space – celebrated on Friday afternoon – the team has reached new heights in services for the Tablelands community, in particular offering MRI scanning, which has only ever been available in Cairns.

The new premises also houses a GP medical practice, a pathology practice, as well as the RMI offices, which have room for an Xray machine, a CT machine, two ultrasound machines, an OPG machine, a bone mineral density machine and the star attraction, the MRI.
