The State Government is establishing the kindy to ensure children in remote areas have access to vital early childhood education. State-delivered kindergartens are established in state schools where there is not another kindy provider within 40km.

The new kindergarten program will be open in time for Term 1, 2026.

“The new program at Irvinebank is part of our plan to ensure every child in Queensland has access to quality early education, no matter where they live,” Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said.

“For families in regional and remote areas accessing kindergartens can be a challenge and that’s why the Crisafulli Government is committed to delivering these programs in communities where other providers aren’t available.

“We know how important our state schools are in small communities and we want to thank Irvinebank for working closely with us to make this kindy program a reality.

“As we head into the Christmas break, kindy’s and schools are running transition programs to help kids prepare for Prep.

“These programs are so important, and for our regional and remote children, having kindy available at their local school makes that transition even smoother.”
