New lots to come online
TWELVE new residential lots will be developed off McGrath Road in Mareeba.
The new subdivision will be developed on two large lots and will be connected to McGrath Road by a new service road to be constructed by the developers.
The 12 lots will range in size from 2,455sq m up to 7,377sq m.
Two objections were received by Mareeba Shire Council during the assessment process, raising concerns that the proposed development may alter the natural drainage pattern and increase stormwater runoff toward adjoining properties.
Because the area is not serviced by the town’s sewer network, each dwelling will have to have its own on-site wastewater system, with submitters concerned that due to the land having a high water table, the use of the systems may result in effluent seepage, odour, or contamination of adjoining land and waterways.
