New martial arts class a great success
SPIRIT Muay Thai’s very first women-only class was hailed a great success after it attracted 20 keen locals recently.
Gym owner Rosario Signorino said he was very proud that the first class was a “huge success”.
“The session was completely full and the energy in the room was incredible,” he said.
He said women of all different ages and fitness levels came together to train and challenge themselves, which created a very positive environment.
“The goal of this class is not only fitness, but confidence, self-defence skills and community connection,” Signorino said.
“The feedback we received after the session was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants asking for it to become a regular weekly class.
“Seeing the strength, determination and smiles at the end of the session confirmed that creating a space dedicated to women was the right decision for our community.
“We’re excited to continue building this program and supporting more women in Mareeba to step onto the mats.”
