New music on the horizon for Crosby
COUNTRY artist Victoria Crosby is amped up ahead of the release of her newest single, You Need A Cowboy, which is part of her upcoming sophomore album.

The local singer-songwriter has created a bit of a name for herself since the release of her first album, North Of The Range, late last year. She’s climbed to Number 1 on international charts, been in the Top 40 of national charts, and was even nominated for a national music award.
The bush balladeer is now exploring her creativity in her album, If The Boots Fit, through a mix of country genres such as blues, rock, pop, as well as her signature ballad style.
The first release, You Need A Cowboy, is a playful take on the simple charm of a country man compared to a “city boy”.
Victoria said she was very excited for the song’s release, which is set for next Friday.
“It’s the first song off my second album, and it’s basically based on me having a conversation with a very good friend of mine a little while ago now,” she said.
“They were really unlucky with love and having a really hard time in the dating scene. I kept noticing that the blokes she kept going for all the time were always these really slick, very shiny, very polished, and very rich men.
“So I said to her, ‘What you need is a proper cowboy – just a good country boy’. So I guess it’s about looking deeper than what’s on the surface, because maybe a good old country boy will just be absolutely perfect.
“This (album) I’m really looking forward to because it’s a little bit of a mixture of different things. It’s basically me just trying on different kinds of country.
“So there’s my regular kind of bush ballads that everyone would already know me for. But then there’s a little bit of country blues in there, a bit of country rock, and a little bit of country pop. So this one’s just about having a bit more fun.”
Victoria will release a single from the 12-song album every three months, with the full album expected to be released by about mid next year.
“This is going to be a long one. The first album that I released was done really quickly and that’s kind of against industry standards,” she said.
“Whereas this time, with advice from radio distributors and marketers, I’m slowing down my release. So, I’ll be releasing a single every three months this time and then the album will come out somewhere probably mid-2027.”
Victoria said she was very grateful for all the support she’s received from everyone in the local area, and she can’t wait for people to hear her new work.
