New newspaper for Cassowary Coast
PUBLISHERS of The Express, Portsea Pty Ltd, are launching a new community newspaper this week.
The Observer, which will service the Cassowary Coast region, will join the stable of community newspapers published by Portsea – The Express, Cairns Local News, and the Douglas Gazette.
Portsea managing director Carl Portella said it was exciting to be able to provide the Innisfail area with its own free newspaper.
“The Observer will be published fortnightly and offered to the community for free, with the first edition due to hit the streets on Wednesday,” he said.
“We’re proud to be able to provide a news service to centres like Innisfail, Port Douglas, Mossman, Atherton and Mareeba because our products are very much aimed at representing community views, telling local sports stories, and being a voice for local issues.
“We’re also very pleased that we can offer these newspapers to the community for free, thanks to the support of local businesses and councils.”
