New offices approved in Lloyd Street
A REGIONAL aged care in-home service plans to set up permanent offices in a Lloyd Street property to meet increasing demand in the area.

Mareeba Shire Council approved a development application to change the material use of a residential home in Lloyd Street into an office for staff working with RADCARE, a federally funded, not-for-profit organisation based in Ravenshoe.
RADCARE has provided in-home aged care services to the region for three decades and in Mareeba in recent years from various leased properties.
It had identified a “critical need for a permanent, purpose-built office space that offers long-term operational stability for activities within Mareeba”, according to a report to council.
The home at 10 Lloyd Street is on a medium-density residential block of 1,115m2 with approximately 20 metres of frontage to Lloyd Street.
The development would re-purpose the existing dwelling to create three offices, a staff area, toilet facilities and a reception area for approximately four permanent staff members working standard business hours. Field staff would sometimes operate from the office for short periods.
The development application said the building needed only an internal refit and some external upgrades (a ramp and car parking) and would be a “quick and low-impact transition to the office land-use” and would present to the street as a residential structure.
Council approved the development, but a request to waive or reduce the MCU application fee of $3,2030 was rejected as it was a cost-recovery-based fee.
