New way to tackle housing crisis
A NEW housing project at Malanda is ready to welcome locals to hear about how a community-led initiative could change the housing scene.

PeoplePurposePlace is set to revolutionise affordable, stable housing on the Tablelands and is inviting people to a public “Different Open House” event at its groundbreaking project.
The initiative, along with its dedicated local Investor, Christine Doan, is seeking to address the urgent need for sustainable and affordable rental options in the community.
PeoplePurposePlace is based on a model that involves putting like-minded people together in the one home to ease the housing crisis.
The pioneering project offers a new pathway for individuals facing housing pressure, regardless of their background or circumstances.
The house at 42 Ginn Road, features five bedsits with ensuites, plus common areas inside and out, with garden space and a rainforest background.
The rent for each individual will be $230 plus utilities.
Free workshops on effective communication skills for small group living are included and selected workshop attendees will be invited for interviews.
Expressions of interest are open now.
Locals are invited to attend the open days on 30-31 August from 11am-2pm at 42 Ginn Road. Member for Hill Shane Knuth will be on hand as well as PeoplePurposePlace chief executive officer Darren Finlay, representatives from the team and community members benefiting from the initiative.
