This year marks the 23rd annual Wheelbarrow Race, and to date, a grand total of $2,898,730 has been raised and donated to dozens of charities.

The event will also see the addition of a new team category this year, with fitness clubs – whether it be a sports club, gym, CrossFit gym, or other fitness groups – now able to enter as a team.

This year’s great race will kick off in the main street of Mareeba on Friday 8 May, before the challenging 140km, three-day trek takes runners all the way out to Chillagoe on the Sunday for a presentation ceremony and celebration.

There have been 18 teams register for the event to date. Those who are yet to register can do so via www.greatwheelbarrowrace.com.au before this Sunday.
