Nutrien Ag Solutions show and sale a success
A TOTAL of 254 head were part of the Nutrien Ag Solutions annual Cairns Show prime cattle show and awards at Mareeba Saleyards last week in an event organisers hailed as a great success.
Part of a total yarding of 1271 head were sourced from across the Far North Queensland region.
“Competition was keen and standards of stock entered in the annual competition were particularly high in all categories,” Nutrien Ag Solutions far northern and northwest manager Tom Mugford said.
“Keen interest was abundantly clear in this annual cattle competition that has been organised in conjunction with the Cairns Show Association, with Far Northern cattle producers vying for honours across a total of eight categories.”
Championship ribbons and honours were awarded across four sectors – Beef Cattle, Pen of Cattle, Show Exhibitor and Prime Exhibitor.
The winner of The Pat Williams Champion Exhibitor of the Show was Wrotham Park Station – Consolidated Pastoral Co; the winner of the Most Successful Prime Exhibitor of the Show was High Country Pastoral; and the winner of The Grand Champion Pen of the Show and Grand Champion Beast of the Show was Vit Co Farming.
“The competition was an ideal opportunity for graziers and buyers to vie for honours regarding their stock standards across both ends of the Far Northern cattle industry from breeding, and production, through to the successful buyers in each category,” Mr Mugford said.
