Only days left to enter your mango
WITH just days left and no new entries in The Express’ annual mango competition, young Jovie Hilditch looks the likely winner of the $500 first place prize.

The mango comp is nearly wrapped up for another year, but locals still have until close-of-business Friday to enter the heaviest Kensington Pride they can find.
Jovie currently sits atop the leaderboard with a 1.385kg specimen, while Theo Mete holds both second and third place with 1.369kg and 1.359kg mangoes.
Weston Hilditch remains in fourth with his 1.273kg submission, followed by Jovie again with her first 1.255kg entry and Teo Palumbo in sixth at 1.210kg.
The competition will officially close this Friday before winners are announced. First place will be rewarded with $500, second place $300, and third place $200, courtesy of Lindsay Rural Transport.
All mangoes entered must be a Kensington Pride variety, photographed on electronic scales clearly showing the weight and viewed by a member of The Express team or Joe Moro from FNQ Growers – afterwards all mangoes will be consumed by The Express managing
editor to ensure legitimacy and quality.
To enter, present your mango and photo to
The Express office at 186 Byrnes Street before 30 January.
