Opportunity through sport
STUDENTS from Kowanyama State School travelled to Mareeba State High School last week to take part in a sporting and peer engagement opportunity.
The match encouraged participation and sportsmanship for the remote community kids, and it was the first time they had played rugby league.
It was a free event open to the community and the local school put on a free sausage sizzle for the kids, parents and spectators.
The match was held at the Mareeba State High School oval and saw the home side win 56-24.
