Planned burns for forest
PEOPLE living near the Herberton Range State Forest are being advised of planned burns by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service over the next two months.

The service will conduct burns of the area up until 30 September and advised that this will require the closure of the Atherton Forest Mountain Bike Park for periods of time for public safety.
The burns mean smoke may be seen in nearby areas surrounding Atherton and Tolga.
People visiting Herberton Range State Forest are advised to observe all signs, barriers, and directions from QPWS rangers and never enter closed areas.
Planned burns are weather-dependent and are conducted under mild conditions with little wind.
