Players recognised at Gold Medal dinner
EIGHT Tablelands rugby league players were recognised at the recent Gold and Silver Medal dinners, hosted by FNQ Rugby League.
The awards highlighted player achievement from the 2026 season and rewarded the top achievers across each age group.
The Gold Medal dinner saw Mareeba Gladiators’ Bronson Ryan and Jason Hastie recognised, as well as Atherton Roosters Women’s Jonah Donovan.
Ryan capped off quite a remarkable season, scoring a total of 29 tries which earnt him the Male Leading Try Scorer award. Meanwhile, Hastie was part of a four-way tie for U19 Player of the Year.
Donovan received the Women’s Representative Player of the Year award for her impressive performances in the Foley Shield competition.
Over at the Silver Medal dinner, five youngsters picked up an award.
Leading the charge was Roosters’ Beckett Fry, who was named the U17 Boys Silver Medalist. Fry was also named halfback in the Junior Boys Team of the Year, alongside Gladiators’ Tyreese Miller-Creek who was named winger in the side, as well as Malanda’s Rory Teahan, who was named hooker.
Also being recognised were Gladiators players Ainsley Martin and Daysjah Peter. Both were named in the Junior Girls Team of the Year, with Martin being named halfback and Peter named winger.
