Podcast to mark Gillies milestone
A SPECIAL podcast series is being created as part of the Gillies Range centenary celebrations.
A massive celebration is planned for the 100th anniversary of the range road, with the major theme to be “step back in time”.
Among the events planned is a convoy of vintage vehicles, classic cars and motorcycles who would make the journey “up the Gillies” to launch a weekend of festivities.
The Yungaburra township will be the hub for celebrations, with live music delivering songs of the era, costumed actors walking the streets to welcome visitors and provide a live history of the village, marquees, historic displays, food vans, and kids activities.
As part of the celebrations, Arts Nexus Studios is creating a podcast series capturing the history, engineering and human stories behind the range road.
The producers are looking for locals, families, historians, workers, and travellers who have a story to share – whether it’s a memory, a connection, a moment of triumph, or even tragedy linked to the Gillies.
The podcast is being designed as something people can listen to while driving the range.
