Police crack down on drugs
POLICE have laid a slew of drug charges against several people in Mareeba including one woman who has been accused of drug trafficking methylamphetamine.

The 31-year-old woman has been charged with drug trafficking after police found a large quantity of cash, methylamphetamine, clip seal bags, a variety of prescription medications, and a number of phones and electronic devices at her property.
The woman was arrested and charged after officers from the Far Northern District’s Tactical Crime Squad executed a search warrant on her Walsh Street property on 1 August.
She was charged with three counts of supply dangerous drugs, and one count each of possess dangerous drugs, possess property suspected of being acquired for a drug offence, possess property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act, possess anything used in the commission of a crime and offence to buy or possess S4 or S8 medicines.
She was also charged in relation to a 2024 offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine).
In another arrest, a Mareeba man was arrested and charged with multiple offences after police found methamphetamine and drug utensils in his vehicle during a search.
It will be alleged that police intercepted a red Mitsubishi Mirage on Keeble Street and found the 30-year-old driver to be unlicensed, and the vehicle uninsured.
During discussions with the man, police detained him and searched the vehicle where they allegedly found a quantity of methamphetamine and drug utensils.
The man was arrested and charged with three offences including one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, possess utensils and driving a motor vehicle whilst disqualified.
He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrate’s Court on 25 August.
Police also charged a 42-year-old Mareeba man with multiple offences on 2 August.
Police executed a search warrant at the residence of the man where they allegedly found a quantity of methamphetamine, a quantity of cannabis, utensils used with dangerous drugs and a quantity of cash.
The man was not present at the time of the search and was located later that same day and arrested.
He was charged with 12 offences including one count each of possessing dangerous drugs schedule 2 drug quantity of or exceeding schedule 3 and possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.
He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on 1 September.
Police have also charged a 56-year-old Mareeba man with drug and stealing offences.
It will be alleged at around 8pm on 2 August police attended a Mareeba address in relation to an unrelated matter.
On arrival, police located the man along with a quantity of methylamphetamine.
Police also allege they searched the man and found a quantity of cannabis, a quantity of methylamphetamine and a needle and syringe.
The man was charged with six offences including two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of stealing, possessing utensils used with dangerous drugs and failing to properly dispose of a needle or syringe.
He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrate’s Court on 18 August.
