Police crack down on drugs
LOCAL police are cracking down on drugs in the region, with people in Ravenshoe and Tolga being charged with possession last week.
Officers from the Tablelands Property Crime Squad and the Criminal Investigation Branch executed search warrants at homes in Tolga and Ravenshoe last Tuesday.
It was alleged that officers found a small amount of drug crystals in the pocket of a 40-year-old Tolga man before a large quantity of methylamphetamines was found in his pants.
He was charged with possession of dangerous drugs and is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on 1 October.
It was further alleged a 22-year-old Atherton woman at the property was also found in possession of a quantity of methylamphetamines and a drug pipe.
She was charged with one count of possess dangerous drug, possess drug utensil and contravene a direction, and is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on 11 August.
In Ravenshoe, police seized a small quantity of cannabis, a bong, electronic scales, and a quantity of methylamphetamines.
A 35-year-old Ravenshoe woman and a 36-year-old Millaa Millaa man were both charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs and possess utensil.
Both are scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on 31 July.
