He will be attending with Member for Cook David Kempton, who said the event was a true showcase of community pride.

“The Mareeba Chamber of Commerce Business Awards are a wonderful celebration of the people, businesses, and organisations that drive our region forward,” he said.

“They reflect the energy, innovation, and community spirit that make Mareeba such a special place.

“These awards ... don’t just recognise outstanding business achievement – they also honour the volunteers and community groups who are the heart and soul of Mareeba.”

The bi-annual awards are a business night of nights for the region, with categories including New Business, Excellence in Retail, Excellence in Rural/Agriculture, Excellence in Tourism, Excellence in Service Industry and Best Revitalised Business.

A winner from those categories will also be named Business of the Year, and there will be two People’s Choice awards – for Community Service and Excellence in Customer Service.

“The Chamber is a highly respected organisation that champions local business and industry, representing around 100 members who form the backbone of our local economy,” Mr Kempton said.

“That’s why the Premier David Crisafulli has been invited to attend the awards evening.”

The awards will be held at the Mareeba International Club on 1 November from 6.30pm.
