Pro tennis program comes to Mareeba

A WELL-established Cairns tennis coaching academy is bringing its program to the Mareeba Tennis Club, with a come and try day being held this weekend.

Baseline Tennis Coaching Academy will soon be commencing its tennis coaching program in Mareeba, bringing high-quality coaching opportunities for local tennis enthusiasts.

Led by owner, director of tennis and head coach, Wayne Fielder, the Academy is a well-established Queensland coaching provider known for its inclusive, community focused approach and commitment to player development of all ages and abilities. Fielder is a Tennis Australia club coach professional and has been coaching tennis for over 25 years.

The team at Baseline have extensive experience working with juniors, adults and competitive players across Far North Queensland, with their award-winning coaching program being recognised at a national level by Tennis Queensland and Tennis Australia.

“We operate with a strong emphasis on our core values of gratitude, empathy and mindfulness (GEM), and always want to create a home away from home for our players where they can build skills, confidence and a lifelong love of our favourite sport. We are well regarded in Cairns as a cornerstone of the local tennis community, where we currently operate,” senior coach Misty Andrejic said.

“To celebrate the launch at Mareeba Tennis Club, we are hosting a free come and try day. The session is open to children and adults of all ages and skill levels, offering the chance for the local community to experience tennis in a fun, supportive environment. We will be providing all equipment so there is nothing for anyone to do but turn up.”

“We are really looking forward to becoming part of the Mareeba community and supporting local players and getting as many kids as we can becoming active in our tennis program.”

The event will be held this Saturday from 8am-10am at the Mareeba Tennis Club.

Session times will have players up to 10 years old from 8am-9am, players above 10 years old commencing at 9am, and an adults “Cardio Tennis” session running from 9am-10am.
