Refresh for Mareeba park
MAREEBA’S primary outdoor gathering space is set for an upgrade.
Following the Mareeba Multicultural Festival at the weekend, Arnold Park will undergo upgrades to its multi-purpose court and a refresh of its pavilions.
New pathways will also be established to improve accessibility and extend the park’s use in wet weather and new park furniture will be installed to improve comfort and amenities for users.
The park just hosted the annual multicultural festival, which attracts approximately 8,000 attendees each year, as well as numerous smaller cultural events throughout the year.
“The upgraded recreation and event facilities, increased power capacity, and improved accessibility will create a more comfortable, inclusive, and functional space where multicultural communities can gather, celebrate, and connect,” a council spokesperson said.
As part of the park improvements, a new multicultural welcome sign which celebrates Mareeba’s diversity, will also be installed.
The Arnold Park Multicultural Recreation and Event Space Project will be funded by the Queensland Government and Mareeba Shire Council.
