River front makeover begins
A PROJECT that will create the Mareeba Barron River Fire Trail and provide a park-like walking esplanade stretching from Herberton Street to Lloyd Street is set to begin this week.
The project will reinstate and improve the trail with hard-packed gravel which will provide better access to Mareeba Shire Council and other agencies during a fire emergency.

The works will mean there will no public access to the riverside track until the upgrade has been completed which could take several weeks.
