Rodeo a success
RODEO competitors and fans alike flocked to Mt Garnet recently for the popular races and rodeo, which officially kicked off the rodeo circuit for the region.
This year’s event saw cowboy Ky Borghero take out the Open bull ride with a thrilling 87-point ride. Bailee Gostelow claimed the Novice bull ride with a 74-point ride, while Sebastian Asquith secured a win in the Junior bull ride with a 69-point ride.
Committee secretary Anne Harron said the rodeo saw a record 370 nominations, with events running from 7.30am-8pm and a total prize pool of $47,640.
“We had a fantastic day, there was a big crowd, and the weather was perfect,” she said.
“We also had quite a few competitors fly in from NSW and couple of young girls who came over from WA, which was great to see.”
