The Roosters Reserve’s gave their home crowd something to cheer about in the major semi final round held in Atherton over the weekend, being the only local team to obtain a win.

The Roosters got off to a hot start with halfback Ty Grogan crossing the line for the first try of the game in the ninth minute and was quickly followed by winger Jarmaine Turpin just minutes later, edging out to an 8-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.

Suburbs went over for their first points of the game at the 28th minute mark but the Roosters fired back with two more tries before halftime, with Grogan claiming his second and winger Tom Cuda notching up one for himself.

The score was 20-6 heading into the break.

The second half was a bit of a back-and-forth battle, with Suburbs scoring in the opening five minutes. However, the Roosters soon found the line again with Turpin claiming his second for the game.

Suburbs went on to score two more tries before Roosters five-eighth Caleb Foster put another four points on the board in the 69th minute.

The Roosters were able to seal the game and walk away with a 32-18 win.

This weekend, the Roosters Reserve’s will face up against Cairns Kangaroos in the preliminary final for a shot to make a Grand Final appearance.
