THE Alliance Française d’Atherton is encouraging locals to take part in the Australia-wide Say Cheese photography competition to mark the bicentenary of the world’s first photograph.
The world’s first ever photograph, “View from the Window at Le Gras”, was taken in France 200 years ago by Joseph Nicephore Niepce, marking the beginning of an historic breakthrough.
To celebrate the Bicentenary of Photography, the Alliances Française around Australia, in partnership with the French Embassy in Canberra, are launching Say Cheese, a nationwide photography competition with prizes awarded in each local area.
The Atherton branch is on board and offering some great prizes: 1st Prize: $250 gift voucher, 2nd Prize: $100 gift voucher, and 3rd Prize: $50 gift voucher.
Winning entries will be showcased nationally across the Alliance Française network and the French Embassy in Australia, and a national winner will be chosen by public vote.
The contest is free, open to all Australians over 16, and does not require membership with any Alliance Française.
Participants are invited to submit a single photograph, give it a French title and submit it before 30 September. Photographs must be submitted in JPG or PNG format.
