St Stephen’s Catholic College in Mareeba will be putting on their very first musical next week, with Matilda Jr – The Musical set to grace the stage of the school’s Holy Spirit Centre.

“I am incredibly proud and honoured to be leading (the school’s) first-ever musical production,” musical director Samantha Malcolm said.

“It has been a joy to work alongside such dedicated and talented students and staff who have poured their hearts into every rehearsal.

“This show is a true celebration of creativity, courage, and teamwork. We warmly invite the community to come along and support our young performers.

“Your presence will mean the world to them after all their hard work. Join us for a magical night of music, mischief, and Matilda.”

The musical will feature all of the wit, intelligence, and special powers depicted in the movie nearly three decades ago.

It will also be packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, and promises that children and adults alike will be delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

The musical is estimated to run for 80 minutes (1h 20m).

Shows will be held next week on Friday night (7pm), Saturday afternoon (3pm), and Saturday night (6pm).
