ANOTHER 2.6km of the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR), from Yarraden to Three Sisters, has been sealed and no one is more pleased than Member for Cook David Kempton.

Mr Kempton has been passionate about upgrading the PDR for many years now, being instrumental in securing the first stage of $260 million to commence sealing the PDR, chairing the Cape York Region Package and directing its implementation.

“I ensured the Cape York Region Package got off the ground. To see the package continue to be rolled out and deliver a significant social and economic boost to the region is just what the people of the Cape desperately need,” he said.

“Another critical section of 2.6 kilometres of the Peninsula Developmental Road has been sealed, which is great news not only for the Cape York communities but all of Far North Queensland.

“The further sealing of the road brings the total length of seal on the road to 336 kilometres.”

The works are part of the Cape York Region Package (CYRP), a $323.13 million program to upgrade critical infrastructure on the Cape York Peninsula, including sealing priority sections of the PDR and priority community access roads.
