The World Day of Prayer is an annual, world-wide event that encourages people from all walks of life to stop and pray for the whole world and its needs.

The service each year is prepared by women of a different country and opens the opportunity to highlight the needs and the Christian story of each country, with this year’s event being organised by a group in Nigeria.

“This program invites us to recognize that God created each one of us with great attention and loving care,” the women said about this year’s event.

“God knows us intimately, and we are special to God in our uniqueness. When we open the doors of our hearts to this truth, everything in our life changes.

“We glow from within, and we begin treating others as beloved children of God. Through this program, we hope people will be spiritually uplifted as they come to trust the great love of God.”

Local services will be held this Friday at St Mary’s Anglican Church, Atherton (9.30am); Herberton Holy Trinity Anglican Church (9.30am); and Malanda Men’s Shed (formerly Uniting Church) at 5.30pm.
