Songs hitting the high notes
LOCAL artist Victoria Crosby is on a high after her debut single hit Number 1 on an international radio station recently.

This is her second Number 1 on the Airplay Express International Top 40 Country Chart, and she’s also had two other songs feature in the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart.
Ms Crosby’s debut single North Of The Range, released in July this year, was the most recent Number 1 on Airplay Express, based on radio downloads and airplay of international DJs around the world. She said it was very cool it had received so much love. It is also the title track for her upcoming debut album.
“It honestly means the world. Seeing it reach Number 1 was one of those moments that really stopped me in my tracks. It’s such a proud moment – not just for me, but for everyone who’s supported me along the way,” she said.
The song is a “love letter” to Chillagoe, where Ms Crosby grew up.
“It celebrates the people who live out here: hardworking, kind-hearted, and proud. It’s about identity, resilience, and belonging, and I think that honesty is what’s helped it resonate with so many people,” she said.
Her other single Red Dome Dust has also achieved the same feat on Airplay Express and reached Number 26 on the national Country Songs Top 40 Chart.
“This (the Country Songs Top 40 Chart) is the chart to watch in Australia. It’s one of the main national country charts based purely on radio spins across both commercial and community stations,” Ms Crosby said.
“That song is really close to my heart. It tells the story of Chillagoe’s mining days and the Red Dome Gold Mine, where my dad used to work.
“It’s full of local colour – the dust, the heat, the machinery, and the people who gave their all to that place.”
Her most recently released single, Bush Kids Don’t Do Well In The City, came in at Number 32 on the national chart last week.
“For an independent artist from a small country town, that’s something I’m really proud of,” Ms Crosby said.
“It’s humbling to know my songs are being played right across the country alongside artists I’ve looked up to for years.
“I’m honestly over the moon. Since July, my last four singles have collectively clocked over 1,200 confirmed radio spins, which still doesn’t feel real to me.
“I’m also so honoured and humbled that Flowers For Annie has been nominated for Best Heritage Bush Ballad at the 2026 ABBA Music Excellence Awards.
“The winner will be announced during the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January, and just being included alongside such incredible Australian songwriters is truly a highlight of my career.
“I just want to thank everyone who’s supported my music – the DJs, the stations, our local community, and the incredible people behind the scenes who’ve taken the time to listen and share it. I’m beyond grateful for every single bit of support.”
Ms Crosby will release her debut album North Of The Range on 14 November. For more information, visit https://victoriacrosby.com/
