Sounds of Abba set for parklands
THE sounds of Abba will ring through the Priors Creek Parkland in July, with Tablelands Regional Council announcing the Australian ABBA Tribute Show will perform at the official opening on 10 July.

The performance will headline night one of the new precinct’s opening weekend, and marks the start of a broader ongoing event and activity program.
Mayor Rod Marti said the opening of Priors Creek Parklands would mark an important moment for the Tablelands community.
“Opening weekend will be a chance for locals and visitors to enjoy the precinct, enjoy time together and be part of something new for everyone across the Tablelands,” he said.
“Our aim has always been to deliver a public space with event activations such as this to bring the community together.”
Council’s placemaking general manager Greg Bowden said the opening weekend was about activating a major community space and building momentum around a precinct with a big future that would benefit the entire Tablelands.
“We want this opening to showcase the role that great public spaces can play in social connection, local business opportunity, tourism and the wider identity of the Tablelands,” he said.
The Australian ABBA Tribute Show brings the music, costumes and full-band energy of one of the world’s best-loved pop groups, performing hits including Waterloo, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Dancing Queen and The Winner Takes It All.
More entertainment, activities and event details for the opening weekend will be announced soon.
Council is also encouraging local food vendors, market operators, entertainers and other event-focused businesses or groups to register their interest in being part of both the opening weekend and ongoing activation of the precinct.
Expressions of interest are now open on the TRC website.
The opening weekend is expected to add to an already busy period across the Tablelands, with locals and visitors encouraged to make a weekend of it by exploring what else is on around the region. With the Gillies Centenary in Yungaburra, the Iron and Steam Fair in Herberton, the Mareeba Rodeo and more going on as well, it will be a bumper weekend to visit the Tablelands.
