ATHERTON got away to a reasonable start in their 2-day Cricket Far North match against Cassowary Coast at Atherton’s Loder Park on Saturday.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. All rounder Luke McAvoy batted their entire innings scoring 91 of Cassowary's 138 runs.

Seppe Barletta claimed the Captain's wicket in his opening spell, Tom Boorman picked up the next 3 wickets followed by Michael Salerno and Paul Nasser with 3 wickets each.

Michael Salerno opened the batting for Atherton putting on a quickfire 37 off 21 balls including 8 fours.

Atherton are 2-94 at stumps on the first day with Paul Nasser 22* and Chris Adams 21* to resume the innings for day two this Saturday.
