Calling all ladies!
LADIES wanting to play rugby league are urged to join the Atherton Senior Roosters as the club looks to field a women’s team in the 2021 Cairns District Rugby League tackle competition. The ladies tackle competition was set to start in 2020 but was abandoned due to the COVID shutdown.

Strong interest remains in the ladies playing thisyear with all clubs now rallying to have the player numbers to compete in this competition.
Women in league is now an integral part of the game withcompetitive tackle competitions now growing across thecountry including the NRL and State of Origin.
The Senior Roosters ladiesside has a core group presently in training but are keen to build the player numbers.
Local lady Chloe Hammond comes from a strong rugby league family and cannot wait to run out in a red, white and blue jersey for the Roosters.
“I am passionate about women being part of the game, especially in our local region,” Mrs Hammond said.
“No matter what background or stamina I encourageall ladies to come along and get involved with our game.
“No experience is necessaryand it is a chance to try something new while also buildingsome great friendships and getting fit.”
Ladies must be 17 plusyears old to play in the Roosters women’s open side andare welcome to attend the club’s Tuesday and Thursday night training runs from 6pm at Atherton’s Mungalli Creek Dairy Stadium.
