The North Queensland Cowboys made a pit stop on their way from Townsville ahead of their trail match in Cairns this Saturday by visiting Mareeba Toyota.

The Cowboys have been in a principal partnership with Toyota since 2003, the second longest running partnership in the NRL

The Cowboys brought a special gift along with them, the Perth NRL Nines trophy for which they are now the only two time winners of in the history of the competition.

The Cowboys play a trail game in Cairns every two years to an electric crowd, this year facing their longest and fiercest rivals, the Brisbane Broncos.

Ross Aldridge General Manager Commercial for the Cowboys always looks forward to the Biennial match and being able to visit the Far North.

“This is the greatest rivalry is the NRL, it may be a trial match but it’s always an amazing atmosphere,” he said.

“It’s important to visit Cairns because we are the North Queensland Cowboy, not the Townsville Cowboys.

“It’s a great opportunity to see the Cowboys in action in the flesh.”

A ‘Curtain Raiser’ will start at 4:30pm ahead of the main game with the Northern Pride going up against the Townsville Blackhawks.

Fans will also get a special treat being able to see Cowboys newcomer Valentine Holmes, sporting a Cowboys jersey for the first time.

The North Queensland Cowboys are going up against the Brisbane Broncos this coming Saturday at Barlow Park.
