The Atherton Eagles have waved 2020 goodbye and are looking ahead into 2021 for a promising and action-packed season.

During the off season, the club has been able to secure new equipment and even give the old canteen a facelift providing a new paint job and stainless-steel benches.

These upgrades were made possible through grants and the hard fundraising work done by committee members and volunteers of the club.

Atherton Eagles Vice President Jason Cummings is excited for the upcoming season and seeing the club get back to where it was pre-COVID.

“We’re looking really good at getting back too normal,” he said.

“last year was the COVID year so this will be the year where we get to start building again.

“It’s looking good all the teams have started training, it’s nearly back to where we were pre-COVID.”

The Atherton Eagles will be sporting five separate divisions this year including the much-anticipated return of their Ladies competition.

The U11’s Miniroos will be played locally between Atherton, Malanda, Dimbulah and Ravenshoe while the Junior Competitive, Youth, Senior and Ladies teams will all be traveling within the Cairns circuit.

The volunteer run club is always looking for more volunteers to help ease the strain and they welcome any help whether it be coaching/managing, cleaning or even sponsorship.

A club information day is being held on Sunday, February 28 at the club’s home ground behind the Atherton International Club.
