Local skiers skim through competition

TWO local barefoot water skiers have returned home after ripping up their competition at the recent State Titles held in Bundaberg.

TWO local barefoot waterskiers have returned home after ripping up their competition at the recent State Titlesheld in Bundaberg.

Six skiers from the Northern Region QLD BarefootWaterski Club in Atherton made the journey down in October to compete in theState Titles with three becoming State Champions and onea runner-up State Champion. 

Clifford Blackford came home with the senior men’s division title, Mark Molford came second in sub-junior boys, Lindsie Jack won her junior women’s title and Katina Davis took home the senior women’s title. 

Ms Davies competed in allthree events over the competition coming off the back ofher performance at the Australian Titles where she wasselected for the Australian team. 

“It’s an absolute honourto be named in the Australian side for the World Titlesit’s something that I never thought would happen in my wildest dreams,” Ms Davies said. 

“I was very lucky to be given the chance and I worked hard for it."

Miss Jack had an outstanding performance coming homea champion considering this was her second State Titlecompetition.

This is a massive feat considering she decided to step upa division from U14’s to U17’s solely because she craved the challenge. 

“It’s nice to actually getsomething decent out of all the work you put into training,” she said. 

“I was really excited to compete in a division higher and I was up for the challenge."
