Roosters ready to crow in season 103

THE Atherton Senior Roosters returned to the training paddock last week for the start of their pre-season in the lead up to a busy 2021 Cairns District Rugby League season.

THE Atherton Senior Roostersreturned to the training paddock last week for the start oftheir pre-season in the lead up to a busy 2021 Cairns District Rugby League season. 

Players arrived at the Mungalli Creek Dairy Stadium forthe first time in more than nine months for a return to the club’s scheduled training after the long2020 lay off due to the COVID-19 shutdown. 

The Roosters have welcomed back players who willfeature in their first grade, reserve grade, under 18 and ladiestackle team. 

Head coach Graham Clark said he was impressed by the numbers for the first hit outs and the dedication shown by the players to prepare themselves for the new season. 

“There is a positive atmosphere around the club with everyone very excited and happy tobe back,” Clark said. 

“This brings plenty of energy to our group looking to getthe ball rolling again and have a good crack in 2021 which isseason 103 for the club.” 

The Roosters squad will be made up of the core group of players who went one game short of the grand final in 2019 along side several fresh young rising stars.

Three pre-season trial games for the Roosters are booked for March 6, 13 and 20 before their opening premiership match with Ivanhoes on March 27. 

The Senior Roosters train at 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights for all grades.
