THE Atherton Roosters have announced they are one of the better contenders in this years finals race following Saturday nights 26-16 win over Cairns Brothers at the Mungalli Creek Dairy Stadium.

After going into the game minus a few of their regular stars, the Roosters showed plenty of grit as they were forced to play the second half with twelve men.

Forward Lachlan Payne was sent off five minutes from the break and the Roosters were booked for an extra effort in the final session.

After leading 14-4 at the break, the Roosters went onto to produce a outstanding performance much to the delight of their local crowd.

Brothers did get first points soon after the restart which closed the gap to 14-10 but the Roosters were soon back in control when Kobe Martin went over. Winger Pio Seci followed with a try soon after and the Roosters were now well on top of their opposition.
