Stamp duty stamped out
FIRST HOME buyers in Queensland will save thousands of dollars with the abolition of stamp duty which became effective last month.

The state government legislation targets eligible homeowners buying or building a new house
Queensland has the lowest rate of home ownership of any state at 63.5%, below Victoria at 68.3% and Tasmania at 70.1%.
The government is also investing $2 billion in housing infrastructure and removing restrictions preventing first home buyers renting out rooms, as part of its Securing our Housing Foundations Plan.
The government said the stamp duty relief across Queensland would deliver an average saving of $9,906 for a house and land package at median price.
More information on support for first home buyers is available on the Queensland Revenue Office website.
