State electorate review
STATE electorates are being reviewed and locals are being asked whether the boundaries or the names of current electorates should change.

The Queensland Redistribution Commission (QRC) is inviting suggestions from persons and groups relating to the size of electorates or electorate during the consultation period ending on 6 August.
As of 30 June, 15 of the 93 State electorates (about 16%) are out of quota, which means they are more than 10% above or below the average number of enrolled electors per electorate. Another nine electorates are close to being 10% above or below that average.
The QRC is also required under the Electoral Act to name each electorate. Members of the public can put in a submission about current electorate names, proposed new names, and community preferences for naming electorates after places, people or on another basis.
Submissions can be made online at ecq.qld.gov.au/QRCconsultation, can be emailed to QRCsubmissions@ecq.qld.gov.au, or mailed to Queensland Redistribution Commission GPO Box 1393, Brisbane QLD 4001.
