State helps foot bill for path
MAREEBA received over $90,000 for a new footpath along Constance Street as part of a $19.1 million state government funding program to improve walking and cycling networks across Queensland.

The council was one of 25 across the state to receive the grants, which were announced recently. It will go towards both the design and construction of the pathway, between the Mareeba Theatre Group on Constance Street to Atherton Street, with costs to be matched by council.
The grants were provided through the 2025–26 rounds of the Walking Local Government Grants and Cycle Network Local Government Grants programs.
