State honour for college student
MOUNT St Bernard College Year 12 student Mahalia Creek has been selected as a member of the Queensland Government Ministerial Student Advisory Council (MSAC) for the Department of Education.

Minister for Education and the Arts John Paul Langbroek announced the successful students, with Mahalia one of only 18 chosen across Queensland.
The Ministerial Student Advisory Council brings together students to share their perspectives and discuss significant issues impacting Queensland school students.
Through her participation, Mahalia will contribute to meaningful conversations that help inform education policy and decision making.
“This is another wonderful opportunity to showcase my skills, and I am extremely grateful for the experience,” Mahalia said.
“I look forward to sharing my ideas and contributing my voice to discussions on how we can continue to improve education for students now and into the future.”
Mount St Bernard College principal Narelle Hunt praised Mahalia’s achievement.
“Mount St Bernard College is immensely proud of Mahalia’s remarkable achievement. Being selected as a student advocate on the MSAC is a testament to her strong character, leadership, and commitment to education,” she said.
“She will represent herself, our school, and our community with integrity and distinction.”
Mahalia’s appointment reflected her commitment to service, and dedication to representing young people – qualities she consistently demonstrated through her role as a 2026 Mercy Leader.
“We congratulate her on this outstanding achievement and wish her every success in this important role,” Ms Hunt said.
