Summer 6s returns
SUMMER 6s is back at Mareeba United Football Club for the first time in three years, with 18 teams joining in on the action for this year’s season.

The much-anticipated off-season competition is back on the pitch and running for the first time since 2022, promising fast-paced games, community spirit, and plenty of football fun for players and spectators alike.
The competition kicked off a couple of weeks ago, with matches being played on Tuesday and Friday nights right through until the end of the year.
Friday Night Football will bring extra buzz to Borzi Park, with the canteen and bar open, making it the perfect way for families and friends to enjoy local sport under the lights.
Competition administrator Justin Pozzebon said the strong response shows how much the community has been waiting for its return.
“It’s fantastic to see such a great number of teams registered for Summer 6’s this year,” he said.
“It shows the passion for football in Mareeba and the surrounding areas, and we can’t wait to see everyone out enjoying the game again.”
Event organiser and Los Torros player Adrian Madrid said he couldn’t wait to get back on the pitch.
“I’m really excited for this year’s Summer 6’s. It’s mates versus mates, almost like a State of Origin feel — and while it’s social, no one wants to lose. I can’t wait to take on my mates out there,” he said.
The Summer 6’s competition offers a social and competitive environment for players of all ages and abilities, bringing together friends, families, and football lovers across the Tablelands.
Games will be played at Borzi Park, Mareeba, with plenty of action, atmosphere, and entertainment across the season.
Spectators are welcome to go along, support the teams, and enjoy food and refreshments from the club canteen and bar.
