Tablelands boy charged with 20 offences

TABLELANDS detectives have charged a 15-year-old Atherton boy with 20 offences committed across the Tablelands area between 12 December 2024 to 29 April 2025.

On one occasion, it will be alleged that at around 4am on 1 March, the 15-year-old boy entered a Holm Street, Atherton, address before taking a number of items and a Toyota Rav 4.

The Toyota Rav 4 was located on 2 March on Golf Link Road, Atherton.

It will be further alleged on the evening of 28 April, the 15-year-old boy broke into three separate premises in the Kuranda area, taking a number of items.

At around 9.35am on 29 April, police attended a Louise Street, Atherton, address where the 15-year-old Atherton boy was located and arrested.

Whilst escorting the boy to the police vehicle, the boy attempted to flee officers on foot.

Officers apprehended the boy a short time later and he was taken to the Mareeba watchhouse.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with a total of 20 offences including five counts of enter dwelling and commit indictable offence, four counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter premises and commit indictable offence, three counts of breaching bail, two counts of enter dwelling with intent and one count each of stealing and obstruct police.

The boy’s bail was refused, and he was due to appear at the Cairns Children’s Court last Friday.
