Tales of locals brought to life
THE stories of six people who lived and died at Herberton will be brought to life on Saturday as part of the annual “Sunset Stories” event to be held at the town’s cemetery.

Every year, just six former residents are chosen and a great deal of research undertaken to unveil their stories from the mists of time; their trials, tribulations, achievements and successes.
The stories are relayed during a dramatised evening walk as dusk settles, taking spectators on a journey through the cemetery. The six people at rest are represented by a cast of community actors in the dress of the day who recount their characters’ stories.
Patrons will hear stories of a time when Herberton was forged by tough people in hard times. This year, a Cobb & Co Coach driver, along with a mother and her two children will be amongst the six characters appearing.
Admission is $5 adults (including pensioners) and children over 14, with children under 14 free. This is a cash only event. The gates will open at 5.30pm, and attendees can avail themselves of a delicious burger or sausage sizzle available for purchase.
There will also be a little entertainment before the walk starts at 6.30pm or dusk, whichever arrives first.
Although seating is provided, you may wish to bring your own chair. A warm coat, torch and suitable walking shoes is always a good idea as well.
