Three finalists to vie for award
THREE farmers have been announced as finalists for the prestigious Charlie Nastasi Grower of the Year Award.

The award, named in honour of the late Charlie Nastasi, recognises excellence, innovation, and leadership in the horticultural sector.
It celebrates growers who demonstrate excellence in both fresh thinking and influence, not only on their own farms but also within the wider industry and community.
This year, for the first time, FNQ Growers opened the award to all farmers, not just those in horticulture, reflecting the growing diversity of the region’s agricultural sector.
This year’s nominees are Katie Hrkac from Tropical Fruitz, Dimbulah; Martin Inderbitzin from Berry North / Kureen Farming of Dimbulah and the Atherton Tablelands; and Jason Salvetti from Salvetti Farming, Arriga and Dimbulah.
FNQ Growers president Joe Moro said the calibre of this year’s nominations reflected the strength and innovation within the region’s farming community.
“It’s great to see three young farmers as this year’s nominees. They show that the future of farming in our region is in good hands”, he said.
The winner will be announced at the FNQ Growers Gala Dinner on Friday 5 September, to be held at the Mareeba International Club, where industry leaders, local growers, and community members will gather to celebrate achievements in agriculture and raise funds for local charities.
