The commission has proposed abolishing Hill and placing Tablelands towns into the seat of Mulgrave, and the renamed seat of Flinders (formerly Traeger). The change would also see the Mareeba Airport go into the Flinders electorate.

The third stage of public consultation relating to the electoral redistribution closes on Thursday.

Locals can lodge their objections in writing to Queensland Redistribution Commission, GPO Box 1393, Brisbane QLD 4001, or by email to QRCsubmissions@ecq.qld.gov.au

Objections to the proposed redistribution can be submitted until 9 April to the Queensland Redistribution Commission at QRCsubmissions@ecq.qld.gov.au or by mail to Queensland Redistribution Commission, GPO Box 1393, Brisbane QLD 4001.

An online petition opposing the abolishment of Hill can be signed by going to www.parliament.qld.gov.au/Work-of-the-Assembly/Petitions/current/

Following the close of this stage of public consultation, the QRC will publish all objections on its website. The public will then be invited to comment on the objections between 20-30 April in the final stage of public consultation.

The QRC will then consider the objections and comments and make any necessary changes to the proposed electoral redistribution.
