Tolga Inaugural growers event
AVOCADO growers and horticulturalists from throughout the Tablelands, Mareeba and coastal regions are expected to gather for the 2025 Avocado Industry and Hort Show Days on 9-10 October.

NQ avocado grower and Avocados Australia’s chair Matt Kleyn is heading the team co-ordinating the inaugural show.
“This event has developed into a great two-day exhibition that will build necessary strong links between growers of numerous crops and their suppliers,” he said.
“We have been encouraged by the support of over 100 exhibitors who will head to The Pack Centre in Tolga.”
The two-day event offers growers a chance to meet and network with others involved in the horticulture industry, see a huge range of trade and machinery displays, and hear from industry suppliers.
There will also be live entertainment and food and drink stalls.
“Avocados Australia’s NQ Avocado Export Regional Forum has been integrated into the event in four special sessions where growers can hear from expert speakers on how exporting and emerging global trends can deliver stronger farm gate returns and they will be able to see the latest market access developments and more,” Mr Kleyn said.
“From orchard machinery and harvesting equipment, to irrigation systems, crop nutrition products, on-farm technology, and post-harvest innovations, the Show Days’ trade area will be packed with suppliers ready to share their expertise and showcase the latest solutions.”
Attendees will also find exhibitors in rural finance, insurance, and other services.
From corporate farming operations to small family-run orchards, the NQ avocado industry represents around $257 million in annual production value.
Mr Kleyn said the interest in this event from industry and suppliers had been very positive and he was certain that those who attended the event would find the experience of great value.
Avocados Australia’s CEO John Tyas will be in attendance and presenting at the event as part of the NQ Avocado Export Regional Forum sessions.
“Events like these provide growers with the chance to source the best information to help improve their businesses, and we will have experts available to answer growers’ questions,” Mr Tyas said.
“This event will encourage much stronger key networking between producers of avocado, lychees, mangoes, citrus and bananas.”
Mr Kleyn said horticulture innovation would be another key information feature of the event.
In keeping with excellent and abundant outputs in recent years, those involved in avocado cropping would find special interest in the sessions on future export market development and the opportunities that would come from that sector.
Admission to the event is by gold coin donation.
The 2025 Avocado Industry and Hort Show Days on 9-10 October will be held at The Pack Centre, 37-39 Albrecht Street, Tolga.
