TRC to consider paid parking
TABLELANDS Mayor Rod Marti has ordered a review of parking in the Atherton CBD which will include the possibility of metered parking.

At its latest meeting and following a recent public meeting in Atherton about the problems of traffic flow and parking in the town, Mayor Marti said he had directed chief executive officer Nikola Stepanov to undertake a review of CBD parking in the next financial year.
Issues with parking in the main business district have recently been highlighted after council closed a 115-space carpark in Railway Avenue for four months to upgrade it.
Mayor Marti said the parking review would include the possibility of paid/metered parking, adequate disability parking, and appropriate parking requirement for developments.
Community input would be sought, he said.
“Given the growth, the review is timely and will inform the new planning scheme for the local government area that will be undertaken next financial year,” Mayor Marti said.
